Pelvic Health for Menopause

During the transitional stage of peri and post menopause, hormonal changes lead to a reduction in oestrogen levels. This can cause, or worsen, many pelvic floor conditions. Bladder, bowel and prolapse symptoms often worsen or start during these years.

Whether you are peri-menopausal, post-menopausal or just thinking about the future, you can benefit by having a specialist pelvic health physiotherapist session.

You will leave the session with a better knowledge of your own pelvic floor & abdominal function and how you can improve it to support you through the rest of your life.

A pelvic health for menopause appointment includes:

  • A detailed assessment of your medical & hormonal history, as well as a discussion around your bladder & bowel habits, any symptoms that are concerning you & if relevant, any concerns around sex

  • Assessment and discussion around your current exercise routines, with advice & guidance relating to your bone & cardiac health, pelvic health and general health

  • Detailed assessment of your pelvic floor, abdominal muscles and general function

  • A rehabilitation plan and exercises, tailored to you and your needs and individual situation

  • Follow up appointments will be available for those who require extra support and/or input to help them reach their goals

  • We work very closely with specialist menopause GPs, nutritionists, life coaches, sleep experts and fitness professionals at www.flourishforlife.uk and will guide you to their services as required/indicated
